Shirley Ann Maxwell

February 1, 1936 ~ September 21, 2021 (age 85)



Shirley Maxwell, 85 of Suntree passed away September 21,2021.

Shirley was born in Nova Scotia Canada, and attended boarding school and then went on to nursing school at St. Mary’s School of Nursing. It was there, she met her best friend, roommate & late husband Clifford Maxwell. They were married May 17, 1957. Shirley was a registered nurse & worked in hospitals, doctor’s offices & nursing homes (as Cliff was in the Canadian Air Force) they moved quite often. She also enjoyed speed skating, curling, skiing (she was a ski instructor). Every summer she was involved with the swim team where her four daughters swam (she was called the swim team mom). Shirley loved socializing with all of her friends & family. They would do lunches, fashion shows, theater, movies, and fondu’s. She loved cruising, and traveling in Europe. She was an amazing cook and loved to entertain. She helped her neighbors take care of their sick ones. She had a smile that was contagious.

She is proceeded by her loving husband Clifford Maxwell. She is survived by her four loving daughters, Denise Maxwell, Barbara Turville, Kimberley Maxwell, Pamela Maxwell. She has six grandchildren Shannon Kearney (Dave Kearney) Danielle Hughes, Mathew Hughes (Holly Hughes), Brandi Taylor (Jon Taylor) Jerrett Bridge & Jennifer Bridge. She has 10 great-grand-children Madison Kearney, Briland Buckley, Devon Kearney, Corbin Buckley, Kaiden Hughes, Alex Taylor, Hattie Hughes, Stella Taylor & a little girl (Petruzzel) (due December 7,2021). As well as her sister Gloria LeBlanc.

A celebration of life will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. On November 6th at 1:30pm, with a reception following at Loren Cove Club House.
