Salvatore Viccari, Age 93, passed away peacefully at home in Viera, Florida, on Monday, September 27, 2021, with his loving wife of 35 years, Phyllis, at his side. Sal was born in New York City on August 29, 1928, and attended PS 7 and 176 in Queens, NY.
Sal joined the United States Marine Corps, 1st Division Marines at 18 and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. He was a survivor of two historic battles during the Korean War, the Battle of Inchon and Frozen Chosin.
Sal owned a wallpaper and painting business, S&T Painting Company, in Spring Hill, Florida for more than twenty years. He volunteered at the VA Hospital in Tampa, FL, driving veterans to their medical appointments. He also volunteered at the Viera VA, golf carting patients to and from their vehicles.
Sal was predeceased by his sister Betty Farris and his brother Victor Viccari.
Sal is survived by his brother Robert, his wife Phyllis, their children Steven (Diane) Viccari, Alice (Jedadiah) Moss, Michael (Jenny) Vulpis, Andrew (Lynn) Vulpis, and Jeanine Vulpis.
Sal also leaves behind grandchildren: Steven Viccari, Nicole Coker, Mathis (Kaitlin) Glover, Perry (Chase) Jones, Quentin and Alyssa Moss, Susie and Cody Kuzilla, Ariana Vulpis, and Adaline Vulpis and great-grandchildren: Roselyn and Christopher Coker, and Kailyn, Carly, and Alexander Viccari and many nieces and nephews.
As a long-time member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Viera, his funeral mass will be held there on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at 11:00 AM followed by Military Honors at Cape Canaveral Cemetery.
