With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Raymond Saunders, 71, of Rockledge FL. Ray was a former long-time resident of Rockland County and Westchester County NY, and Bushkill PA. After a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis, he died peacefully in the presence of family and friends on 1/6/2023 at UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville FL.
He was born on August 13th, 1951 in West Paterson, NJ to George and Alice Saunders. Ray had a wonderful childhood growing up with his two older brothers George and Ronald. He grew up an avid sports fan and spent the bulk of his days at a ballfield or in the neighborhood with friends and family. He graduated from Passaic Valley Regional High School and moved on to start his career as a factory manager and dedicated family man.
Ray will be remembered for being the life of the party, a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who was larger than life for all who knew him. He has touched so many lives and inspired so many people to become the best version of themselves. Ray leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Saunders, his sons Scott (Kelley) Saunders and Jonathan (Elissa) Roselli, his daughter Kristin (Paul) Smith, and his seven grandchildren Jack, Kendall, Jayden, Leo, Konner, Kristopher, and Kyle.
Ray is predeceased by his parents George and Alice Saunders, and his two brothers, George and Ronald Saunders.
Private services for family and friends will be held in Florida. There will be a celebration of Raymond’s life in NY in Spring/Summer 2023 for all family and friends!
