Ocean Beach 07

Michael John Covello

April 24, 1964 ~ October 31, 2021 (age 57)

Michael (Mike) John Covello of Cocoa Beach, Florida passed away on October 31, 2021. Mike was born and raised in Babylon, NY. He was 57 years old. Mike is survived by his partner, love of his life and wife of 33 years, Robin. Michael also leaves behind three sisters, Meg Murphy (husband Tom, children Tom, Michael and Robert), Barbara Mason (husband Don and children Chris, Leslie, Andrea, Donald and Lisa) and Nancy Dittmeier (husband Harry, children Kate, Harrison and Jayne), mother-in-law Marian Fleece, and in-laws Rose Fleece (children Jennifer Gonzalez and Jason Smith), and Robert Fleece (children Tim Fleece and Alison Conti) and 16 great nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his father, Michael Joseph Covello, his mother, Ann Rooney and his father-in-law Bob Fleece.

Mike will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all who ever had the chance to experience his kind heart, gentle soul, and passion for living. Most of all, Mike enjoyed spending time with Robin. Whether they were traveling the world, strolling along the beach, or enjoying a quiet evening at home, Mike and Robin could always be found enjoying each other’s company.

After “retiring” from a successful career as an Architect and Project Manager, Mike dedicated a significant portion of his time to helping others. He volunteered at a local food pantry in Cocoa Beach, and helped organizing and distributing school supplies for Brevard School Foundation Supply Zone for Teachers. When Mike wasn’t busy helping others, he enjoyed travel, building models, construction projects, biking around Cocoa Beach, kayaking in the Indian River Lagoon, and spending time with his friends and extended family. Mike had an enormous heart, which was shown through his love of children, animals and anyone in need of a helping hand.

Please help keep Mike’s memory alive by loving each other, your community, and the world around you, just as Mike did.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mike can be made to the Indian River Lagoon Foundation. Donations can be made at onelagoon.org.
