We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Viera/Rockledge
Luis “Benjamin” Flores
Luis Benjamin Flores was born to Gertrudis Montenegro and Benjamin Flores on December 15, 1945, in El Salvador. He was born in a small town, excelled in the national basketball leagues of El Salvador, became a successful architect, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and loved to travel. He died October 8, 2021, in Viera, Florida.
Benjamin went to school at the Externado San Jose in San Salvador. Following, he lived in New York City where he attended Columbia University to later return to El Salvador to complete his architecture studies at the University of El Salvador. He later taught architecture at the same institution. After several years of work and having his own firm in El Salvador, he relocated with his family to the United States permanently in 1984. He continued to have a successful career as an architect in Florida, and internationally, until the end of his life.
Benjamin loved to reminisce about his youth playing basketball for the Externado and the university. He was twice selected to play for the men’s national basketball team. Ben enjoyed sharing his passion for architecture with anyone willing to lend an ear. In his later years, he liked singing, recording music and playing golf with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Cecilia (Cecilia Chavarria) and their children, Luis Benjamin Jr., Daniel Eduardo (Rhoda), and Cecilia Alessandra; his sisters Beatriz and Tuly, and their families; as well as his brothers-in-law Guillermo and Julio, and their families. He was very proud of his four grandchildren, Leah, Alec, Jessica, and Violet. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, grandfather, and brother. He will be greatly missed by his immediate and extended families and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 22, 2021, at 2:00 – 3:00pm with services immediately following at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, 5400 Village Drive Rockledge, FL 32955.
