John Dale Schultz was born to Adeline and John R. Schultz on October 3, 1930, and died September 28, 2021 at the home he so loved in Cocoa Beach.
Dale was a remarkable person, happy to serve a friend, neighbor, even strangers. He began his career at Michigan Consolidated Gas Co. at age 18, which was interrupted when he entered the US Army. After discharge, he returned home to marry Jean Belmore. Together they raised Sherry, Audrey (Casey), David (Linda), and Brian (Beth). They were proud of their 7 grandchildren and three greats. Dale and Jean moved to Florida and together enjoyed serving their church, playing golf, calling bingo, Meals on Wheels and travel. Jean died in 2010.
Dale was active in the Knights of Columbus in Michigan and was instrumental in growing the local Knights Council into an active council.
In addition to being known as Dad, Pipi and friend, Dale was also called the Shell Man. In earlier days, he walked the beach daily and pick up shell “treasures.” He had an impressive collection of shells and created wreaths for everyone.
There will never be another one just like him. We will miss you, Dad. “We’re proud of you. You know that.”
In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to Meals on Wheels or Candlelighters of Brevard.
