Edward Joseph Rossi, 84, of Merritt Island, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2020.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Charlotte, their sons Joseph and Stephen, and many cousins and close friends in Connecticut, Florida and Australia.  He was predeceased by his father and mother, Joseph and Pauline Rossi.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Ed learned a love for the great outdoors from his uncles and grew up an avid hunter and fisherman.  He had a long career working at Remington Rand, Remington Arms and DuPont.  By working in sporting goods he was able to meld work and sportsmanship.  He was fortunate to make good friends at work who shared his passion.  He loved making trips to Missouri to spend time together on a farm.

In 1992 he moved to Merritt Island, Florida in search of a warmer climate for retirement.  In 2004 he was blessed to visit Adelaide, Australia, for a joyful reunion with long-lost cousins.  Back home he celebrated daily Mass at Divine Mercy Catholic Church and became active in many ministries.  He served for years in the St Vincent de Paul society helping the poor, both locally and with the Orlando conference.  He served as extraordinary minister of holy communion and as sacristan.  He brought communion to the homebound while serving as a minister to the sick.  He was a fixture at adoration, prayer groups and Bible studies.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Merritt Island, Florida Saturday, October 3rd at 2 p.m.  It will be open to friends and family, but due to COVID-19 there will be no viewing nor reception.  Masks will be mandatory and social distancing will be practiced.  The family asks that you carefully consider your own safety when choosing to attend.  Mass will be live-streamed by the church so you can participate remotely.  Here is the link to the website:

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Divine Mercy Church's St Vincent de Paul in recognition of the 6 years he served as president of their chapter.  The church website has a link to Electronic Giving below the live stream window.
