Edward John Olwell of Cape Canaveral, FL passed away on August 29 at Viera Hospital at the age of 78. Born in New York City on November 12, 1942. Edward was the son of Eleanor (Pierce) and Edward Joseph Olwell. He is survived by his four children: Eileen Olwell, Maureen Carlson (Ryan), Mary Ellen Olwell, and Peter Olwell, along with their mother, Anne Marie, as well as his sister Claire Clarke (Richard) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved brothers John (1965) and Peter (1981). Edward grew up on Adrian Ave in the Marble Hill neighborhood of New York City. He attended St. John’s grade school, Bishop Dubois High School and Manhattan College, graduating in 1965. He began a career in accounting and later transitioned to a career with the United States Postal Service. He retired to the Villages of Seaport in Cape Canaveral in 2006, where he made many good friends and enjoyed Florida life. He served his community for many years on the Board of Directors of his Homeowners Association and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Edward was always a gentleman and a gentle man who will be missed by his family and friends, as well as anyone who was lucky enough to have known him. He will forever be in our hearts. There will be a memorial mass on Saturday, September 11th at 10:30 AM at Church of Our Saviour in Cocoa Beach.
