Edward J. O’Donnell Jr.

Husband of Mary L. O’Donnell of Viera, Florida, was 85 Years old. Born in the villages of Harrisville, Rhode Island, he was the first eagle scout in the town of Burrillville, Rhode Island, and enlisted in the US Navy in March of 1954. Having served aboard three ships and on four overseas duty station tours, he held the ranks of Chief Petty Officer, then advanced through the Warrant Officer ranks to W-4. He retired in 1979 as a Lieutenant with 23 years of active service. Mr. O’Donnell graduated with an AA Mitchell College, New London CT. A B.A. from the Naval postgraduate school in Monterey, CA. and an MBA from National University in San Diego CA.  He retired from Time-Warner Cable in 1992, after serving as Cable System General Manager for 12 years in Canyon Country CA. He was a past President and Paul Harris fellow in the Newhall, California Rotary Club. Following retirement, Mr. O’Donnell moved to Melbourne Beach, FL. and resided there for eight years. He has been a resident of Viera since 2001. He was a life member of the Military Officers Association of America, The American Legion, and The Navy Cruiser Sailor’s Association of America. He was married to and predeceased by Mary L. O’Donnell (Denenno). He was the son of and was predeceased by Edward and Elise O’Donnell of Manchester CT, He is also predeceased by his sister, Elise James, his Brother, Robert O'Donnell, Son Shawn O'Donnell, and step-sons Mark and Donald Dubay. He is survived by his daughters Sharon Olson and Tara L. Frye, and step-daughter Suzanne R. Dubay. 

 

Mr. O’Donnell will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
