Edward J. Kroen, born on January 18, 1930 in Greensburg, PA. died on November 27, 2020. Edward received his BA in Mathematics at Thiel College where he met his beloved wife, Dorothy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years. Upon graduation, he entered the Air Force. This began a 20 year service for his country. While in the service he attended the University of Texas, receiving his BS in EE. He then took his family to Tokyo, Japan for a three-year tour. Returning to the states to attend the University of Wyoming for his MS in EE degree after which he was assigned to Cape Kennedy on the Titan II program. He participated in 17 launces as the instrumentation engineer. Following this assignment, he was sent to Vietnam to fly missions in KC119 gunships. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He retired from the Air Force to begin his second career as a teacher. After 20 years of teaching he took his second retirement. He and Dot began a long-awaited time to travel extensively worldwide, visiting 67 countries and taking 28 cruises around the world.
He will be greatly missed by his five children, Shauna, David, Randy (Gail), Brian, and Karen Szewczyk (Kevin) Five grandchildren; Danielle, Mariah, Andre, Katie and Corey. A funeral service for Edward will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 4, 2020 at Acension Lutheran Church with internment to follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
