Earl Philip Mason Jr. (Jerry) passed away on September 12, 2021. Born August 21, 1929, in Brockton, MA. Son of Earl Philip Mason and Eunice V (Carter) Mason. Proceeded him in death, (April 1989) his first wife Mary D Mason.
He is survived by his wife Myrna: daughters Jerene Mason and Cynthia Morriston (Neil) of Elgin, SC and son Mark C Mason (Debbie) of Cape Coral, FL. Granddaughters Kristina Morriston and Jessica Foster (Trey), great grandchildren Hanna, Hailey, Harleigh Foster and Landen Morriston; sister Sheila School (deceased), nephew Rowland School (Jackie), great nieces Isabelle and Addison, and numerous cousins.
Earl grew up in Athol, Mass and graduated from high school in 1947. He attended Lowell State Teachers College for one year before enlisting in the US Army in 1948. After serving in combat with the 25th Infantry Division in Korea in 1951, he embarked on a 28 and ½ year military career and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in W4 in January 1977. Thru-out this period he served overseas in Korea, Japan, Okinawa, and Germany and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and three Army Commendation medals.
After retirement he worked at Kennedy Space Center on the Shuttle Program for Planning Research Corp and Lockheed Space operations Co as a senior systems Engineer and retired the second time in 1991.
After retirement he pursued his passion for singing with his deep bass voice and sang many years with the Brevard Choral and went 4 overseas concert tours. He also sang with several other Space Coast Choral Organizations and church choirs. He was a loyal member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church.
In 2004 he volunteered to become a Service Officer for the Disabled American Veterans. His desire to help disabled veterans enabled him to continue this service right up to his death.
Memorial services will be held at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Stadium Pkwy in Viera, FL on (Thursday September 16, 2021, at 3:00pm). Internment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, VA.
