Obituary

David Joseph Pangilinan, age 73, passed away on March 5, 2022 at Palm Bay Hospital from Covid Pneumonia.  He was born on January 19, 1949 in Chicago, IL where he grew up and attended St. Vincent DePaul Catholic School.

After school Joe joined the army and served in Vietnam. He was a Specialist 5 Helicopter Mechanic on the CH-47 Chinook (the largest and fastest helicopter during the Vietnam War).  He received a Commendation Medal for meritorious service and was Honorably Discharged.  Joe was proud to have served his country and loved to wear his Vietnam Veteran hats. It seemed everywhere he went people came up to him thanking him for his service to our country.

Joe was in the Glaziers Union and installed glass windows on high rise buildings in Houston, TX and Miami Beach, FL.  He was also the supervisor at A-1 Glass.  Joe was married to Sheryl the love of his life for 27 years. They lived in Miami, FL and later moved to Lake Butler, FL. He spent his final years in Palm Bay, FL near family.

Joe loved spending time with family, fishing, gardening, going to the beach and Disney. Joe was a doer and was always working on fixing something or cleaning. He loved to help others any chance he could. He was such a sweet and easy going guy. People seemed to just be drawn to him. He was kind, loved to laugh and enjoyed the present moment. If there was music playing he would always hop up to dance. He just seemed to know how to enjoy life and radiated that joy to others.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Casimiro and Janet Pangilinan, brother Michael Pangilinan, niece Lauren Pangilinan, wife Sheryl Pangilinan and the mother of his child Edith Pangilinan. Joe is survived by his daughter Rachel Quick (Brian); sister Kathleen Nelson (Jim), sister Barbara Shepherd (Pat), sister-in-law Kathleen Pangilinan; nieces Michelle Puzon (Bill), Dawn Simmons (Jimmy), Patricia Garriga (Allie), Natalie Nelson; and nephews Brent Nelson, Anthony Pangilinan.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday April 8th, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Palm Bay, FL.  A burial service will be held following the service at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 3:00 pm.  Arrangements are provided by Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home

Joe will be deeply missed by many and remembered for being such a kind sweet man that brought joy to every life he touched.

Cheers to you Pineapple Joe!
