Obituary

David L. Lyons (Buddy)

July 4, 1941 - March 6, 2021

“Your guiding hand will be on my shoulder forever.”

Buddy married Sheila, the girl across the street, in 1963 after being drafted.

After 6 years of active and reserve military duty, they settled back in Melbourne, FL.

Buddy began a career in roads and grounds as a heavy equipment operator working on projects like Walt Disney World and The Kennedy Space Center.

Buddy and Sheila had 3 children and bought their first home in Rockledge, FL in 1979.

Despite working long days, Buddy had a passion for coaching his boys baseball teams and was a pillar in the Rockledge Little League for more than 13 years.

Buddy was a jokester and thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people. He had the unique ability to meet a complete stranger and instantly gain their trust and friendship. He was known to be both quick with witt and with numbers, also for having a photographic memory.

Buddy enjoyed fishing, playing board & video games, shooting pool, playing poker, watching college football (FL Gators) and playing the FL Lottery.

Buddy cherished spending time with his children and his seven grandchildren; above all else he adored his wife Sheila.
They were married for 56 years.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Eva and his sister Victoria.

Buddy is survived by his wife Sheila, daughter Michelle (Michael), David Jr. (Danielle), Dwayne (Crystal), seven grandchildren David III, Dyllon, Dalton, Daniel, Elizabeth, Kadence, Madyson and his brother Danny.
