She relocated to Cocoa Beach later that year and began her career as a social worker for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Circuit 18 where she stayed for 28 years helping children and their families.
Carol also loved her furry four-legged friends. She was very committed to animals, particularly animals in need. She was known for feeding the feral cats in her neighborhood for many years. All who know Carol, knew how much she loved animals, particularly cats. She gave generously every Christmas to several cat charities and did not hesitate to contribute to an animal in need.
