William Stewart Perry (Bill), 79, of Melbourne, FL was called to heaven on Saturday, May 12, 2018. He passed away at Shands Medical Center, Gainesville with his nephew Thomas Perry by his side. Bill was born on October 26, 1938 in Rochester, New York and was the son of the late Stewart and Mildred Perry.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, and several Air Medals. Bill thoroughly enjoyed living in the Indian River Colony Club (IRCC) where he was part of the Colony Club Audio/Visual group, the Pickled Peddlers, and was Volunteer of the Year and Good Neighbor of the Year. Bill was part of the IRCC Singles group where he regularly enjoyed happy hour with his other IRCC friends. Carole Patterson was one of his special friends and the two of them spent many enjoyable times together and looked out for each other.
Bill never married, was friends to many in the Indian River Colony Club, and was close to his two nephews and their families. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert and Richard. Bill is survived by his sister in-law, Patricia Perry; and nephews, Mark and Thomas Perry. Mark’s family includes Heidi Higgins (fiancé) and children Nathan, Danielle, Amy, Stephanie, Megan, and Sophia. Thomas’ family includes Jean (wife) and children Kevin and Sarah.
Arrangements are being handled by Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, Viera, FL. Visitations will be from 9am-10am on May 24, 2018 at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home followed by Celebration of Life at 11am and Reception at 12pm at Indian River Colony Club. Interment with Military Honors will be at 11am on May 25, 2018 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
