Ruby Watson of Cocoa, Florida passed away peacefully at her home with her 3 daughters by her side. She went to to be with her Lord on Friday, July 5th 2019 at the age of 88. She was born in Rutledge, Tennessee and was the baby of 9 children. She graduated from Rutledge High School. After graduating from high school she worked as a waitress at the Rutledge Inn.
After meeting her late husband Bruce, at the age of 14 (1945). They married when she was 18 years old, in 1949. They later moved to Cocoa, Florida with their family in 1953, and Ruby continued to work as a Waitress at The White Caps, Wolfies, and The Neptune.
Bruce and Ruby started a successful family business of Watson Paving Inc, with several others businesses to follow. Those businesses were WWG Asphalt Company, Watson Truck and Auto Parts, Brevard Road Materials, and Watson/Baxley Citrus Groves.
Ruby was a dedicated member of Orsino Baptist Church in Merritt Island, Florida for over 55 years, where they always sat on the same pew for all those years. Bruce was the song leader and Ruby taught Sunday School for the 2 and 3 year olds. They both were the church treasurer/secretary for more than 50 years. Ruby loved her family, friends and church family whom she kept close to her heart. She will be missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her late husband of 61 years,Bruce Watson, her parents Jeff & Mary Scott, and 5 brothers Mitchell, John, Bob, Bill, Herbert and 2 sisters May and Mollie. She has 1 living brother Hubert Scott of Pell City, Al.
She is survived by 3 daughters Mary Long (Jack), Evelyn Goodson (Tom) , Kitty Bouck/Shuman (Stan). 7 Grandchildren LeAnn Ferrell (Dana), Billy Long (Michelle), Travis Goodson (Erin), Jeffery Long (Angie), Lindsey Rapacz (Brad), Darin Bouck and Kaylee Bouck; 12 Great Grandchildren, Lauren (Ricky), Mason, Chase, Julia, Jackson, Marissa, Holden, Mia, Taylor, Brantley, Jayden, Aaliyah; 2 Great Great Grandchildren, Weston and Haleigh and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Orsino Baptist Church 4505 N. Courtenay Parkway in Merritt Island, Fl on Saturday July 13, 2019. Receiving of friends from 12:00 – 2:00 pm. Service at 2:00 pm with Pastor Monty Trammel officiating.
Ruby will be laid to rest beside her late husband Bruce Watson at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Fl
