Mary Nelle Rogers, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2018 .  She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years J. Richard “Dick” Rogers, her parents, Francis W. and Nellie Ward Graves, her son, Richard Thomas Rogers, her sister, Elsie Graves Dugger and her brother, William Wilder Graves.

She is survived by her son, Stephen and his wife, Tina McKee Rogers, Fairfax, Virginia and her daughter, Gail and her husband, Terry Johnson of Brentwood, Tennessee, her granddaughter, Natalie Rogers Martin (Dustin) and grandson, Scott Rogers (Stacey), and four great grandchildren, Case Martin, Alden Martin, Brett Rogers and Molly Rogers, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Mrs. Rogers was born on June 8, 1922 in Savannah, Georgia and after marriage moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she worked for Ford Motor Company and as Office Manager for various dentists for the next 35 years, and was very active with the East Point Garden Club, serving as President.  Following relocation to Longwood, Florida in 1976, she served as Office Manager to Dr. Thomas Hand D.D.S. in Winter Park, Florida until her retirement upon moving to the Melbourne/Suntree area.  Also, she volunteered and prepared meals for orphaned children, was a member of the Red Hat Society, was a longtime member of Suntree United Methodist Church of Melbourne and a member of the Empty Nest Sunday School Class.  

Special thanks to caregivers including Liz Battista, Gail Douglas, Arlene Hoilett, Rosalee McKenzie, Shela Pierre, Jane Simons, and Grace Smith who provided loving care to our mother throughout her last years.

A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 27. 2018 at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Suntree United Methodist Church, 7400 N. Wickham Rd, Melbourne, FL  32940.
