VIERA, FL -
Darrell L. Peterson, 80, formerly of Merritt Island, passed away peacefully at Wuesthoff Hospice House in Rockledge on Friday, May 4th, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane, and their children Jeff, of Cocoa, Jarrell and his wife Dana and grandchildren Joshua and Mallory, of Merritt Island, brother John and his wife Joan, of Perry, FL, brother-in-law Jerry Moehrman of Reynoldsburg, OH, and nephew Brad Shelton of Phoenix, AZ. He was predeceased by his parents John and MaryAnn Peterson of Ft. Pierce, FL.
He was born in Columbus, OH in 1938. He served in the Navy and was based in Key West, FL on the submarine USS Tirante SS-420 from 1957 to 1961. He and his wife, Jane and their twos sons moved to Merritt Island, FL in 1965 where he worked as a Quality Assurance Engineer in Cape Canaveral for 30 years. He and his wife were long time members of the Merritt Island Jaycee’s. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling—especially to Biloxi, MS. He served on the board of directors for the City of Cape Canaveral.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm, Friday, May 11, 2018 at Beckmann-Williamson Funeral Home, 5400 Village Dr., Viera, FL. Contributions in his memory may be made to Wuesthoff Hospice House, 661 Eyster Blvd., Rockledge, FL 32955.
