On Sunday, October 14, 2018, Dr. Candida Colon Marquez, loving grandmother, wife and mother, passed away at the age of 82.
Candida was born on June 6, 1936 in Salinas, Puerto Rico. On October 25th 1953, she married Adrian Monserrate Marquez Lopez. They raised two children, Lloyda and Adrian Jr. In 1996 she earned a Doctorate in Philosophy from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education and was extremely proud of her education and career. Over the years she taught students from Long Branch NJ to Puerto Rico.
Candida had a passion for her family. She loved Sunday dinners, spending time on family vacations, road trips with her grandchildren, and decorating for the holidays. She was known for her quick wit, her boisterous laugh, and her avid love of Christ.
Candida was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian, and her children Lloyda and Adrian Jr. She is survived by her grandchildren, Adrian III, Liana and Benjamin, and her great-grandchildren Gabriel, Adrian King IV, and Leonidas.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Calvary Baptist church in Melbourne at 3 p.m.
