Antoinette (Toni) S Bell

October 27, 1938 ~ September 10, 2017 (age 78)

Heaven received another angel on September 10, 2017 as Antoinette S. Bell (Toni), 78 of Melbourne, FL was called home.  She was in the comfort of her home surrounded by family when she lost her long battle with a debilitating pulmonary condition.

Toni was born the daughter of Margaret Greer Tarrant and Stanley Dubois Tarrant in San Pedro, CA on October 27, 1938.  She was raised in Huntington, NY with her brother George Stanley and her sisters, Nancy Sue and Greer Margaret.  She graduated from Huntington High School in 1956 and married Franklin James Bell in 1958.  She remained on Long Island, NY with her family until 1975, at which time her husband purchased a business on Merritt Island, FL.  Toni worked closely with Frank to help establish Cocoa Rug & Drape as the preeminent window treatment and floor covering business in Brevard County.

Once the family business had grown, she transferred her talents into a career as an administrative assistant, working for aerospace, defense, security and advanced technology contractors.  She worked for Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), Sperry, Lockheed- Martin. In these roles, she supported the engineers responsible for the navigational defense systems for submarines worldwide.  With an office on the naval ship, The Vanguard, she had the opportunity to travel to such places as: Bermuda, Barbados, St. Thomas and many ports in the US.  She retired following 18 years of service with Lockheed-Martin.

Toni was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 35 years, during which time she held various positions within the organization.

She volunteered her time to multiple charities and was also a loyal blood donor as member of the 50 gallon club.

Toni was a Pearl Harbor survivor at the age of 3 as her father, a naval officer, was stationed in Hawaii at the time of the attack on December 7, 1941.

She was preceded in death by her son Timothy, her brother George and parents, Margaret and Stanley.  Toni is survived by her husband, Frank, of 59 years, sister Nancy of Cocoa, sister Greer (Bob) of NC, daughter Christine (Bill) of Merritt Island and her daughter Kate of Rockledge.  She has 4 grandchildren, Samantha, Lindsay, Brian and Ryan.  She was blessed to become a great-grandmother in 2014 when Atlas was born to Samantha.

Toni did everything with love.  She graciously gave of herself by creating gifts made by hand and spent a great deal of time sewing, quilting and baking for others. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was blessed with countless life-long friends.
