Theodora J. DeLeo
February 21, 1939 - February 9, 2017
After nearly 78 years of a life overflowing with love, adventures, family and friends, that began in Stamford, CT. As the first daughter to Kenneth W & Florence M (Weaver) Wood, she accepted the hand of her departed love and took her last breath in this world, entering her new one. Known to all as "Teddi", she began a new adventure 2 years ago, on January 2nd, 2015, after saying, not goodbye but "see you there", to the love of her life, Peter De Leo Sr. She spent the best parts of the past two years having adventures for both her and Pete. She was surrounded by family, determined to fight with all she had, until she could no longer and it was time to rest. Teddi is survived by her children, Peter (Sheila), Marjorie (Tim Tedeschi), and Melinda (Michael McHenry), and her grandchildren, Jessica (Matt De Leo), Joseph Daher, Michael De Leo, A.J De Leo, Emily McHenry, and Meghan McHenry, her siblings, Donald Wood, Cynthia Spiers, and Barry Wood. She is predeceased by her husband, Peter J De Leo, Sr. and Siblings, Kenneth Wood, Jerry Wood, Richard Wood, Gary Wood and Parents Florence and Kenneth.
To all who knew Teddi, she was a feisty, loving, caring, passionate, creative and true person to every friend, every cause and every loved one in her life. Teddi's life journey was filled with many roles along the way. A graduate of Holy Name School, and of Stamford High School, Class of '56. She became a Navy wife in 1960, a mother in 1964. As a long time resident of Fairfield County CT., she enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader, a Church and Catechism Leader, a volunteer and tutor to Rowayton school children, and enjoyed a 25 year career at Norwalk Hospital, where many more friendships were made (and a sweet spot on the bowling league!!). She will continue to be remembered well, as she left a world of friendships in her wake. No one was ever a stranger to her. She would want to be most remembered as a fiercely proud mother and Grandmother. Rest In Peace, Mom, Grammy, Grams. You are sorely missed.
